About Cheralyn

Cheralyn Darcey is an Australian radio broadcaster, international bestselling author, illustrator, botanical historian and journalist. 

She produces and presents The Nightline from the 2HD studios in Newcastle, broadcasting weeknights across 

the Super Radio Network, including 2SM in Sydney.

Known for her warm, informed and engaging presence on air, 

Cheralyn brings curiosity, creativity and credibility to talkback radio. Her background in communications, journalism and community program management shapes a style that’s thoughtful, 

approachable and grounded in everyday experience.

Her writing explores the connections between people and plants, drawing on a lifelong study of botanical traditions, cultural history and the language of flowers. Her publications include Flowerpaedia: 1000 Flowers and Their Meanings, Australian Wildflower Reading Cards, Flower Reading Cards and Flowers of the Night Oracle. She’s also the author and illustrator of the children’s book series The Florasphere Diaries and the author of the inspirational Bloom Anyway series.

A passionate advocate for community connection, Cheralyn draws on her lived experience in military family advocacy, her work managing community volunteer programs and her love of collecting stories. She creates space for meaningful conversations, 

helping listeners share their experiences and feel heard.

Her popular gardening column, Down in the Garden, runs weekly in Coast Newspapers. She also contributes to national and international publications, specialising in botanical and historical topics.

Cheralyn proudly serves as Patron of the Central Coast Edible Garden Trail and is furthering her broadcast skills through a Postgraduate Diploma in Radio & Podcasting at the Australian Film, 

Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
